About the Book
Whether you are just entering ministry, or you have been in the trenches of ministry for years, you will benefit from the nuggets found in The Heart of the Pastor's Wife Unveiled. The woman is challenged to establish friendships with other women in ministry, become a people motivator, and develop a spiritual toughness, while keeping a kind heart. You will discover what it means to have fun with who you are, establish priorities, and avoid burnout. Not only will you be challenged to stir up the passion in your heart for your spouse, you will be encouraged to discover exactly where you fit into ministry, and celebrate who you are in Christ, as a woman called by God.
About the Author
Cheryl Turnbull is an experienced speaker with more than twenty-five years in ministry. She is a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God and has organized and developed women’s and youth ministries. Her passion is to encourage women to desperately seek God, develop their spiritual gifts and talents, and courageously use those gifts to proclaim Christ. She has spoken at women’s conferences internationally. Most recently she has developed a mentoring program for women in ministry that is meant to be a resource and support for the pastor’s wife and woman in ministry. It is Cheryl’s heart’s desire to help cultivate strong relationships between women in ministry. She and her husband, Stan, have been married twenty-five years and have two sons (one is handicapped) and two daughters.

We can have another woman as a friend outside of ministry, but they will not understand some of the issues relating to the pastorate.  In fact, they may influence us in the wrong direction. We do not want to get to the state of mind in which I had allowed myself to reach. That is the reason for “Mentoring Women in Ministry.” It is my heart’s desire to help cultivate strong relationships; relationships with other women who are just like you, in the trenches, giving their lives for the work of the Lord....
As senior pastor’s wives we need to be the Elijah’s to the Elisha’s. Are we allowing the Holy Spirit to move upon our heart to pass the mantle to the woman in our care? As an associate or youth pastor’s wife, we need to take advantage of the opportunity to grow, and mature under the leadership of our senior pastor’s wife. Learn from her and seek her council. Don’t feel like you have to know everything. You can’t know everything. You just started in ministry. She is a veteran soldier in God’s army. Allow her the opportunity to share what she has learned from the battlefield....
David was anointed by God, but lonely and isolated. He was anointed by Samuel to be king, but had to run for his life. Does God anoint us, call us, and let obstacles stand in the way of fulfilling His plan? What was going through David’s mind? Here he had been anointed by Samuel to be King, but couldn’t let anyone know about this anointing. Do you think he felt the anointing was a privilege? We don’t know what he thought about that in particular instance, but we do know he did not become angry and bitter....
Pastors are busy doing the work of the pastorate. Some of them remember to be good dads, but neglect being good husbands. Wives are busy being mothers and whatever ministry they have within the church. They can easily be distracted and forget to “woo” their husband to them. Maybe they try, but the husband is too busy with pastoring that he doesn’t notice....
I don’t believe our calling is fulfilled overnight. Our purpose may not be revealed to us immediately. If it were we would not have the opportunity to grow and mature into the calling. It should be of major importance to us, to continually be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and God’s direction; even when we are unable to see clearly. Do not question; just innocently trust....
Women, you are awesome creations of God! There is a joy you can have because of Christ living in you....
