About the Book
Abandoned as a small child, seventeen-year-old Brannon Reeves has lived and worked with her aunt, Lila, tucked away from the modern world in a forest cottage.  But an attractive stranger, an accusing news story, and the discovery of a long-kept family secret shatter her simple life overnight.  Thrust into a world of betrayal and persecution, she must face an enemy she never knew existed.  Will she suffer the same fate as her mother?  Can hope, courage, and love conquer evil?
Free Preview (excerpt)

The voice was coming from the forest, rising and falling like that of a wolf's howl in a strange melody...I finally grasped the courage to look back outside the window and jumped when I saw a light wading through the blackness below.  It was a lantern.  The light was barely bright enough for me to discern the features on the figure holding it.  It was Lila.  Stunned, I watched as she headed for the woods.  Sucking in a sharp breath, I stepped back away from the window.  It was too strange.  Should I just go back to bed?  How could I?!  Lila was going into the black forest alone, towards the sound.  How could I wait for her to return?
