About the Book

This is the story of an Air Force senior non-commission officer’s remote assignment in the Middle East country of Qatar. Master Sergeant Hale painstakingly documents all his highs and lows of his experience in this remote corner of the world. Come join him and read his “personal journey” as he leaves hearth and home for an unknown country that most people never have heard of. If you think our military doesn’t face personal hardships, this book is a must read to enlighten one’s mind.

"It really is totally unique. It is honest, straightforward and very warmly endearing. You draw the reader into your own private world of thought, reasoning, emotion and action. It's most certainly a "one-of-a--kind" record of your experience in Doha. You turned everyday life in that situation into a true treasure of military "Americana!” a keeper for sure for all those who will be purchasing your diary.”

"Charlotte Baker, Internet publication editor."

2:46 pm: We are in lock down at the base.

This means we are not allowed to leave the base, only for official reasons. There is an increase threat to us now. Someone has threatened the Army base next door to us. Kind of brings things home. I don’t dare tell Karel. She would only worry. I won’t tell the rest of the family either.”
