About the Book

Explore life's journey through the eyes of a girl and the heart of a woman.  From the heights of happiness to the depth of despair, Gypsy Heart Travails and Treasures chronicles human experiences and emotions.

In this diverse collection of poetry and prose, familiar passages of life speak to all of us. Stroll through mortal desire, pause at heaven’s gate, slip from reality into fantasy, indulge in dessert or ruminate over growing older. Hear the little girl who adores Grandpa, teenager brooding over breakups, reflections of nature, joys and heartbreak of motherhood – experiences of love, lust, loss and friendship.

Enjoy the timbre of words woven to strike a chord of emotion, thoughtful heart renderings rhythmically crafted to entice, endure, and enlighten the audience. Gypsy Heart Travails and Treasures will make you laugh and cry, hug your children, call your parents, and tell someone special how much you love them.

About the Author

Sheri Taylor Bockelman was born in Ohio, but grew up exposed to a wide range of regional cultures. Residing in states from New England to Louisiana to California and the Mid-West, she met her current husband in Texas over thirty years ago; they have three grown children and five grandchildren.

Sheri Taylor Bockelman is a survivor of hemorrhagic stroke, overcoming statistical odds of fatality among bleed strokes: only about two percent of those affected survive these devastating brain injuries. She is left-side paralyzed, in a wheelchair, and trained her own assistance dog, who was adopted from a shelter. Learn more about service dogs and training on her informative website: www.myassistancedog.com.

Readers will be inspired by her reflective writing in Gypsy Heart Travails and Treasures.

From the collection of balladry in Gypsy Heart Travails and Treasures:

The Finest in Life

The finest in Life,

That I have seen

Includes a luscious lawn of green

A flower garden deftly grown

Quilted blankets,

Hand-made sewn

Brand new babies, sound asleep

Mountain tops

And oceans deep

Homemade bread and parakeets

Muddy prints

Of puppy feet

Precious moments on the phone

Fantastic folks

Whom I have known

Sunshine on the morning dew

And spending

My lifetime with you.
