What are the steps involved in the DIY Cover Conversion?
After purchasing the DIY Cover Conversion service, you can submit your print-ready PDF file via e-mail to customer support. If your trim-lines and specs are to the Wordclay standards outlined in the Wordclay DIY Self-Publishing Toolbox , your artwork will be applied directly to your cover, with the addition of your barcode should you purchase Wordclay ISBN and Channel Distribution . What's the difference between DIY Cover Conversion and the Stock Cover Art services?
Good question. The DIY Cover Conversion service is for those authors who already have a fully-designed cover and do not need any assistance what-so-ever to create their cover using the specs we provide. If you (or your personal designer) have created a complete, original cover that meets our cover image requirements specified in our DIY cover template guide, then you want to purchase the DIY Cover Conversion service. On the other hand, if you have an original image you want to use for your cover, but need assistance putting the entire cover together, then you want to purchase Stock Cover Art. With the Stock Art Cover, you can e-mail a picture as a jpeg or tiff file, or just ideas for your cover directly to our Customer Representatives at customersupport@wordclay.com, and our designers will take care of the rest.
Designed for the extreme DIYer, this Cover Conversion service allows you to save some extra money while maintaining your complete control over image placement and cover text. Back to top
What kinds of designs and images can I submit with the DIY Cover Conversion service?
Your PDF cover file can have any design or images you desire, so long as your cover doesn't contain images or content that could be construed as explicitly hateful or pornographic material. Keep in mind that your cover must pass our design review as well. To ensure your cover is acceptable, please review our DIY cover template guide within the Wordclay Toolbox.
You cover artwork and text must also be original material that you've created or commissioned for your
personal use. If you are using the artwork of another artist, you are required by law to have their express permission, and Wordclay may ask that you submit a copy of this permission before the cover is published with your book. For more information on the Wordclay copyright stance and guidelines, visit the Copyright and Libel page within our FAQs.

Who owns the copyright to the cover?
You own the copyright of any original work you are submitting for your cover. Any material copied from another artist, designer, Web site, company or organization without their express permission is considered plagiarism. To avoid possible lawsuits, submit only work that you yourself have created, purchased or obtained permission to use for your book.

Will I be able to make changes or corrections to the cover?
No. Once you submit the print-ready PDF for your cover, you will not receive a chance to make corrections. If your book is submitted for publishing and you find an error, you can make the changes to your cover file, but you will have to purchase an additional DIY Cover Conversion fee. Plus, we would need to resubmit your book to our printer to update your corrected cover. This process can take one to three weeks and additional resubmission charges could apply (for example, if your book had additional features that you would like to keep, such as an ISBN).

How is the final cost of the DIY Cover Conversion determined?

Additional charges may apply if your cover requires extra work to prepare, i.e. if the file needs to be readjusted for the spine or slightly skewed trim lines need to be realigned. The added charge is based on the amount of time required for our designers to tweak your file while preserving your overall
